1861-1865 Living History

Teaching History through living it
OUR MISSION
It is the intent of our group of living historians to present the history of the period
1861-1865 in a manner free of political correctness, hatred, and regional animosity.
We wish to honor both Confederate and Union - not just one side.
Our aim is to deliver this message to the general public through participation in living
history events, school presentations, and reenactments.
We honor the sacrifices and motives of those who lived during this time; we do not
glorify war or death.
We will bring the message of our ancestors in a manner honoring their Christian
character as well as the Christian heritage of the founding fathers of both the United
States and Confederate States

We will take the message of Christ without shame nor apology to whomsoever will
listen and wheresoever we can find a venue in which to present this truth.
THE CREED OF THE LIVING HISTORIAN
(Thanks to B/G Jerry Parons)
We are people to whom the past is forever speaking. We listen to it
because we cannot help ourselves, for the past speaks to us with
many voices. Far out of that dark nowhere, which is the time before
we were born, men who were flesh of our flesh and bone of our
bone, went through fire and storm to break a path to the future. We
are part of the future they died for. They are part of the past that
brought the future. What they did – the lives they lived, the
sacrifices they made, the stories they told and the songs they sang
and finally, the deaths they died – make up a part of our own
experience. We cannot cut ourselves off from it. It is as real to us
as something that happened last week.
